(Apologies I’m in the middle of moving house so am unable to record this article for today’s issue)

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been told, “We can’t pay you, but it’ll be great exposure.”
And I’ll be honest, sometimes, I said yes. But most other times, I said no.

Some of those yeses opened doors I never imagined.
Others left me drained, undervalued, and wondering why I ever agreed.

If you're a freelancer, creative, or service provider in 2025, you will be asked to work for free at some point.

The problem is, working for exposure doesn’t pay the bills…at least not now.

The question isn’t if—it’s how you respond.

Here’s how to know when it’s worth it, and when to walk away from the “offer.”

👇 Behind the $5 paywall, you’ll learn:

  • My “Exposure Filter” checklist: the 6-question test I run every offer through before saying yes or no

  • What to ask for instead of money: non-cash compensation that still grows your brand, credibility, and client base

  • Real pitch examples that turned “free” offers into strategic deals for me

Let’s get into it!
